Selected works from Azovstal (2022)

“Well, that’s all. Thank you for the shelter, Azovstal — the place of my death and my life.” With this message Dmytro Kozatskiy published the link to his full photo archive from the Azovstal plant on Twitter.

The first civilians (families of the plant workers) found shelter there in the end of February. The plant has dozens of different buildings and 36 shelters. Civilians and military spent there almost three months during the siege of Mariupol. They met each other nearly once a week to share food, water, and other supplies.

In May, his photos of military and civilians from the Azovstal plant went viral all over the world. Dmytro is not a professional photographer, this is his hobby since his youth. From May 20, 2022 Dmytro is in Russian captivity with other defenders of Mariupol.
