Fragments - Tokio Ito

As the title already suggests, the photos show small parts of the city. Certain elements are easily recognisable, such as a rubbish bin, a sewer lid, a film poster or the back of a car. However, the photos still show the photographer’s very personal view of the city. It seems as if Ito has taken the photos unintentionally, revealing the photographer’s encounter with these objects in the street. The different fragments offer the photographer the possibility to reconstruct his memories. Almost all the photos have been taken from a certain angle, causing well-known objects to be viewed from a new point of view. The photos force the viewer to pause at elements from the city, that he would normally pass by thoughtlessly.
