Pictura

The artists’ association Pictura hosts a rich collection of visual stories from all over the world, bringing together new and traditional media techniques. The upstairs gallery features work in which the past and the memory of it inspire the creation of new realities. From personal family stories and temples of bread via stories about the diaspora and cultural heritage to magical realism and colourised photos; each work brings the past into the present. How do we relate to our own history and how can photography and visual techniques play a role in retelling or adapting stories and memories? The four self-contained spaces on the ground floor each show the story of one artist with his or her own visual language and approach. Together they prompt us to question the things we take for granted in everyday life, and search for deeper layers within our physical and digital reality.
