AI and the art landscape: listen to our latest podcast episode

3 Apr 2024

AI and the art landscape: a match made in heaven or a disaster waiting to happen? We discuss it in our new podcast episode. Host Joost Wierenga shares this year's podcast studio with artists, curators, experts and researchers and this time, he delves into the world of artists that work with or about AI. Guests include Roosje Klap, Patrick Laan and Boris Eldagsen.

Patrick Laan is a photographer and teacher at Noorderpoort Kunst & Multimedia. He provides classes on camera and lighting technology and stays closely involved with the latest developments. Within the photography course, he shares how they deal with artificial intelligence (AI) and how students respond to it: do they like working with AI?

Roosje Klap is a mixed media artist and researcher, known for her work with the collective ARK, among others. In 2021, ARK created a life-size machine learning installation, LAWKI, which was on view at the Noorderlicht International Photo Festival. As of May 1st, Roosje will hold the position of general director of Noorderlicht. In this episode, she talks about emerging artists to keep an eye on, among other things, and she hints at plans for Noorderlicht.

Boris Eldagsen, a photomedia artist, shares his experiences about winning the Sony World Photography Award, which he says he won unfairly.
