Onion Cutting Workshop
What do our hands know?
Thinking Hands explores the knowledge held within our hands and bodies. Many skills aren’t something we master by looking them up, but by doing, practising and experiencing.
How do you cut an onion perfectly? Try asking AI. Learning from each other is still faster. Until your hands simply know what to do.
Apparently, there are as many as eighty ways to cut an onion. Chef Dennis Nolle will introduce you to different cutting techniques and show how touch, grip and rhythm make all the difference. From dicing and brunoise to julienne: we’ll put our hands to work. And yes, tears are allowed.
We’ll turn all the chopped onions into onion soup and enjoy it together for lunch to round off the workshop.
Sunday 4 October, 11:00–13:30
Led by Groningen-based chef Dennis Nolle
Includes a short tour of Thinking Hands and a shared lunch
