Grootendorst shows us a possible path to a more sustainable future. Our classic cow has been supplanted in livestock production by American breeds that produce as much as possible milk in the shortest possible time.

By now, the original breeds (cattle and others) are virtually extinct. This productivity has a downside: monocultures, disease susceptibility and CO2 emissions. Shouldn’t we, especially with the Paris Environmental Accord on the doorstep, revive 1950s agriculture? With the genes of robust, strong animals that can meet future challenges?
