Wonderpolder (2015-2017)

The polder is a human creation, a landscape extracted from the water. According to one person the most beautiful landscape in the world, according to another – the photographer – boring and grey. However, the photographer has the power to create his own world, a different polder. There are no longer people in this wonder polder, no industrial estates, houses and aeroplanes. But there is plenty of beauty and especially silence. During a road trip in the dark, at ungodly hours, the miracle reveals itself. As the car lights sweep across the meadows, the polder suddenly gains a mysterious beauty. While God, Mondrian and the Engineer are conjured up, the photographer saw the light.
