Flowers + Vegetables (2015)

In Westland in South Holland, Theo Bos was asked to develop an idea for a group exhibition together with sculptors, in a nursing home. He decided to bring together two local phenomena. Westland is an area renowned worldwide for its export of horticultural products, but huge quantities of unsold vegetables and flowers are destroyed every day at the auctions. He combined this left-behind green with the visual imagery of flower arranging (a weekly activity at this nursing home) and so doing arrived at his ‘narrative assemblages’, which are presented as monumental photographs.
