OWNED BY NO ONE (2016)

OWNED BY NO ONE tells the story of a subculture that wants to protect its identity in a dystopian, late-digital era. In a world in which information is a commodity and society thrives on the destruction of privacy, identity and the ego, the members attempt to rediscover their identity in anonymity. They lead their lives under the radar, life in safe houses and only appear in public as anonymously as possible. They remove their fingerprints and wear reflective masks and special contact lenses so they can’t be detected by retinal scans. OWNED BY NO ONE shares the criticism on the digital surveillance state, but at the same time asks questions: how free can you be if you constantly have to hide yourself to maintain your privacy?
