Photographer Laureate
Inspired by the role of the Dutch Poet Laureate, as an initiative of the Photoweek a Dutch Photographer Laureate was named in 2013.
For a year Ilvy Njiokiktjien (b. 1984) will act as the ambassador representing Dutch photography. In honour of her selection, Njiokiktjien is working for a year on a project about birthdays in the Netherlands, in which she evokes a rich picture of the diversity of Dutch society. She will be showing her results so far at the 20th Noorderlicht International Photo Festival.
