Noel Jabbour
According to the Palestinian photographer Noel Jabbour, the Abu Dis wall built by lsrael on Palestinian territory, has consequences for both sides. On the one hand, the wall acts as a prison for the Palestinian people, who must try to develop in this suffocating situation. On the other the Israelis also lose a lot because of this wall. Are they not equally its prisoners asks Jabbour? She incorporates her critique in a photographic triptych. To the left we see what she calls the ‘inside’ of the wall, or the Palestinia side. To the right is the ‘outside, or Israeli side. A young man appears to sit imprisoned in the middle. For Jabbour the wall is the expression of the total failure of the Israelis and the Palestinians to share the ground – of enormous cultural and religious significance – and live peacefuly side by side.
