In her work, Dorothée Elisa Baumann deconstructs, breaks out and brings texts and signs in new spaces together. She challenges the visitor to perceive the shifts - some interventions are like a punch in the face, others rather subtle. The video performance ‘2h19min19sec19frames’ explores the power of language, communication and media in an experimental intermedia space. A philosophical critical text is placed in the context of a public space: a TV news channel.

For 140 minutes, a television presenter reads in real time ‘On Photography’ by philosopher Susan Sontag, a ground-breaking series of critical essays on photography and its production. What impact does this text have, read in a style intended for short factual news, on the audience, the speaker, the medium? The professional speaker is challenged by the length and content of the text. She is accustomed to short information without emotional attachment and confused by the fact that she reads a text that is critical of the medium in which she acts herself at that very moment.
