India
Freelance photographer Henk Braam has travelled and photographed in India regularly for the past ten years. He now presents a series of recent images from this country at the USVA Noorderlicht Photogallery.
In 1993, Braam started working as a photo editor for Amnesty International and in that same year he joined Dutch photo-agency Hollandse Hoogte. The Amsterdam Fund for the Arts awarded him with the starters’ prize for photography in 1996, after judging his photographs from India, Ruanda, Tibet and Nepal. “The photographs by Henk Braam”, the commission wrote, “convince in their beauty (…) and distinguish themselves through their enigmatic charachter and their keen use of light”.
