IN FULL COLOUR
Beneath the skin, in the light
In IN FULL COLOUR, emerging photography talents from the Netherlands, Ireland, and Germany explore queer visibility, self-image, and the power of intimacy. This international collaboration between Noorderpoort (Groningen), Douglas Street Campus (Ireland), and Berlin’s Lette-Verein presents the perspectives of twelve students, revealing how identity and connection take shape, both beneath the skin and in full light.

Who are you when you are seen? And what happens when you return the gaze?
The photographs and installations explore themes of touch, style, the body, pride, vulnerability, and the queer gaze. Under the guidance of Noorderpoort educators Sven Sleur and Rob de Jong, the exhibition has evolved into a collective manifesto, sometimes loud and sometimes tender. Sometimes deliberate, sometimes raw. Each work captures a moment of what it means to be yourself in a world that doesn’t always move with you.
At the same time, the outdoor exhibition Ways of Being – Queer Realities opens at Akerkhof, presenting a selection of powerful visual queer stories from around the world as part of Pride Photo 2025. In this second collaboration between Pride Photo and Noorderlicht, six portraits by artists featured in the Pride Photo Awards 2025 are included in our gallery, forming a visual dialogue between students and established photographers—a new encounter between generations, perspectives, and ways of being queer.
