Restoration (2000, 2005)

Because man is reckless with nature, it is in a bad state.

Ilkka Halso makes fun of the renovation of the ruined nature, caused by man himself. He built fictional locations where old churches or houses are not restored, but trees, fields and rocks. By literally scaffolding these natural objects and using artificial light, they are isolated from their surroundings and the artificiality of human intervention in nature is emphasized – even if there are good intentions behind it.
