Oeverlangen aan de Maas (Nederland, België, 2008-2010)

As a child, the Meuse already impressed John Lambrichts as a natural border and barrier with Belgium. He swam in the river with his mother and later went fishing with his father, an avid angler.

During both activities, his imagination was stimulated by the other side, which seemed very far away, especially in winter, at high tide. With Oeverlangen aan de Maas, the title is a fictional village on the Border Meuse, Lambrichts pays tribute to the river and the birthplace of the people on both sides. On his ‘musing trips’ along the ‘Grensmaas’ he saw that the typical atmosphere around the river was disappearing. His photos retain this atmosphere or, on the contrary, evoke it.
