Lowlands (Zweden, 2009-2011)
In Lowlands Martin Bogren outlines his relationship with the Swedish village where he grew up. He never felt out of place there and always dreamed of 'something bigger'.
Bogren shows the state of mind and the people of yesteryear as he remembers them. Even now he finds it strange to be back in his old village. It is reflected in his images, in which the viewer’s sense of alienation is tangible. Whether his series is a return to or a farewell to his youth remains unclear.
