European Communities – Dwellings (2003-doorlopend)
From simple wooden huts to elegant houses that seem to blend in with their sedum roof – Dwellings is part of the European Communities project in which Immo Klink photographs people throughout Europe who place themselves outside industrialized society.
They often built their homes themselves using what the landscape and wildlife around them provide. The residents form alternative communities, complete with their own micro-economy, that together want to show that another world is possible. It seems a utopian idea, says Klink, but at the same time they are harking back to earlier times.
