Dream About Motherland (Roemenië, 2005-doorlopend)
For his work in progress Dream About Motherland, Tamás Páczai regularly travels to Transylvania, where he was born and spent the first eight years of his life.
Páczai is guided by the stories that cross his path and the memories of his childhood. Youthful wonder gives way to a sour sentiment. It’s still the countryside from then, with literally the same people – the youth have flown to the city. Paczái shows us villagers who still live according to age-old traditions, but also the consequences of the intention of the then communist rulers to demolish all farming villages and to house the farmers in modern ‘agricultural centers’.
