Cutting back on art and culture is astonishing | Open letter
On May 17, 2022, we heard through about the proposal to structurally cut 7.2 million euros in the coming years, of which 1.6 million euros in the broad art infrastructure (including museums), program lines and Frisian in Fryslân. The cultural sector in Fryslân is shocked by this announcement and by the accompanying documents, in which it was in no way involved. That the Provincial Executive is now proposing to cut the cultural infrastructure of Fryslân is astonishing. We therefore wrote a letter to the members of the Provincial Council of Fryslân (dutch only).
Op 17 mei 2022 vernamen wij via de media dat het college van Gedeputeerde Staten van Friesland het voorstel heeft gedaan de komende jaren structureel 7,2 miljoen euro te bezuinigen, waarvan 1,6 miljoen op de brede kunstinfrastructuur (inclusief musea), programmalijnen en Fries. De culturele sector in Fryslân is geschokt over deze aankondiging en de bijbehorende stukken waarbij zij op geen enkele manier betrokken is geweest. Dat Gedeputeerde Staten nu voorstelt het mes te zetten in de culturele infrastructuur van Fryslân is verbijsterend en volstrekt inconsequent. We schreven daarom deze brief aan de leden van de Provinciale Staten van Fryslân.
