Piet den Blanken

Piet den Blanken (1951-2022) is a documentary photographer and photojournalist in Breda. In 1972 he got a job as a darkroom assistant at the Brabants Dagblad in Den Bosch. Soon after, he starts taking photos for this newspaper, and he also follows the training in reportage photography at the Fotovakschool in Apeldoorn. He has been an independent photographer since 1978, specializing in social and economic subjects. He documents society, photographs work and living situations, records how people interact with each other, how actions are taken, how people stand up for themselves. He often photographs the underside of society.
