Lola Alvarez Bravo

Lola Álvarez Bravo (1907-1993), was born in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, Mexico. She married photographer Manuel Álvarez Bravo. As Manuel’s career in photography started to get serious, Lola assisted him and helped her husband in the darkroom, although she too had a desire to become a photographer. In 1955, Álvarez Bravo’s work was part of the exhibition The Family of Man, organized by Edward Steichen for the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
