About Jiang Jian
Jiang Jian (China, 1953) grew up during the Cultural Revolution. He was sent to the countryside in the late 1960s, where intellectuals were to be ‘re-educated’ on the farms. Without any formal training, he became a photographer in 1984. He acquired a reputation for his first exhibition and photo book, Scenes(1993-1995). His second book, Masters,has received numerous awards. Jiang Jian is the art director at the MR Gallery, located in Beijing.
