About Jeffrey Silverthorne
Jeffrey Silverthorne (b. Honolulu, US, 1946) began his career in the late 1960s. He made his name with his morgue portraits, of which The Woman Who Died In Her Sleep is the best known. He photographs the seamy side of America, but never as an objective outsider, and is chiefly occupied with the big questions of sex and death. Presently Silverthorne is teaching at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island.
