About Ian Teh
The photography of Ian Teh (United Kingdom, 1971) is driven by his interest in social, ecological and political issues. He approaches a series as ‘a film in stills’, in which ambiance and storyline merge. Whether it is on the streets of London, where he lives, or in the working class seaside resort of Blackpool or in a China swept by modernisation, Teh seeks the cross-pollination between the beauty of an image and pressing journalistic themes. His work has appeared in TIME, Newsweek, The New Yorkerand other periodicals. He is also a co-founder of the on-line journal Deep Sleep Magazine.
