About Hanane El Ouardani
Hanane El Ouardani (1994) lives and works in Amsterdam after her graduation from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in 2018. She envies those who are attached to a clear and strong sense of belonging and, at the same time she appreciates to be outside of everything – as if it allows her to immerse herself in the many differences that make every one of us unique.
In Hanane El Ouardani’s work she’s often inspired by the general notion of representation, home, stereotypes and status within society. She strives to create documentary projects that depart from a small personal subject matter, which she then uses to reflect and narrate a larger story of the convergence of cultures – one that dares to speak to the hearts of many. Her publication ‘The Skies Are Blue, The Walls Are Red’ was nominated for the dummy awards Unseen 2018.
