Algemene Tentoonstellingsvoorwaarden
- Noorderlicht invites artists on the basis of open submissions or its own research. No entry fees are charged for open calls.
- The artist provides Noorderlicht with all necessary materials for a selection and presentation proposal. The artist also informs Noorderlicht of requirements regarding format, production method or presentation. Noorderlicht likes to have as much flexibility as possible in the presentation and installation of the work.
- ‘Works’ refers to printed artworks, new media installations and/or videos.
- For group exhibitions, both parties agree on the selection based on a proposal by Noorderlicht. Noorderlicht decides on the final presentation, taking into account the artist's guidelines.
- For solo exhibitions, Noorderlicht proposes a selection to the artist or offers guidelines for a proposal. The exhibition will be designed in consultation with the artist.
- The artist provides:
- High-resolution scans of all selected images or files for media/video presentations.
- If available, clear installation images from previous or desired presentations.
- Texts: project title and description, artist statement, CV, short biography, captions per image if applicable, price list if required.
- Apart from unique works or works that cannot be reproduced for other reasons, prints are produced by Noorderlicht in its own certified print lab. Paper choices, print formats and presentation forms are discussed with the artist.
- For installations, new media or video projects, Noorderlicht will discuss the technical execution with the artist.
- Noorderlicht cannot ship framed or mounted works from abroad. Shipping of light, unmounted works may be discussed if the Noorderlicht print lab cannot meet the technical requirements.
- Noorderlicht will prepare a short exhibition text of 100-150 words, based on materials supplied by the artist. Due to time constraints, it is sometimes not possible to have the text proofread and approved by the artist. See the Exhibition Sheet* for more details.
- The artist provides press images if the exhibition files are not yet ready. The selection of press images is done by mutual agreement. See the Exhibition Sheet* for details on format and resolution.
- Press images may be used royalty-free for promotion via press, website, social media, press releases, promotional material and possibly a catalogue. The artist retains all existing copyrights to the work.
- The artist will receive remuneration according to the Dutch guidelines for group exhibitions and existing work, as laid down on kunstenaarshonorarium.nl. All production costs will be covered by Noorderlicht. Framings by Noorderlicht are temporary and remain the property of Noorderlicht.
- After the exhibition, physical prints produced by Noorderlicht are temporarily stored for possible touring exhibitions. If a tour is no longer expected, the works will be destroyed unless otherwise agreed. A possible tour is always discussed in consultation with the artist.
- Sale of works is an extra service provided by Noorderlicht and not the main objective of the non-profit organisation. Prices and conditions of sale will be determined in consultation with the artist, if necessary.
- Deviations from the above arrangements are possible, if agreed in writing by both parties.
These agreements are confirmed in an Exhibition Agreement, to be signed by both Noorderlicht and the artist.
*An Exhibition Sheet will be sent when you are selected for the Noorderlicht International Photo Festival.
