Devlin Claro works between documentary and fiction, in the outer boroughs of New York that rarely serve as backdrop for the stories the city tells about itself. In Range he follows the everyday rituals of people who grew up around firearms: the maintenance, the familiarity of the movement. Loading, unlocking and aiming are worn into reflexes through repetition. Without judgment, it becomes visible how the hand learns violence as skill, habit and second nature.
