Chelsi Alise Cocking, Illuminate, 2023, interactive installation

Through machine learning and computer vision, Illuminate detects a person’s movement in space, with no controllers or body-worn devices. The movement traces become luminous, colourful forms on a translucent screen: the invisible paths the body draws become visible. The visitor plays with their own body as an interface, and the body appears as what it always was, a system that thinks, moves and leaves traces, even when no one is watching.
