From the 1970s to the 1990s, Lammert Boerma was a well-known painter of symbolic realistic art, controversial for his design and representations. He often made headlines for his allegedly obscene paintings. It is unknown to many that he also photographed in that vein and processed those images with thin oil paint, turning it into colored photography.
