The New Utopia (2020)
In ‘The New Utopia’ the young Polish artist Ra Solaris endeavours to unite reality and a surrealistic view of life. In our internet-dominated era, many people tend to shut themselves off, seeking their salvation in small, comprehensible groups. Generation Z, in particular, experiences a fragmented outside world full of disinformation, nationalism, cruelty, misconduct and absurdities, and turns inwards to the world of the smartphone, creating its own inner world to find answers to life’s questions. The fragments of history and the symbols they find there, form – through the fragmentary nature of the information – new connections and surrealistic realities. Concealed herein lie new ways of seeing, which can help in finding answers.
