In Home 404, Sondi reimagines and reinterprets the idea of home and diasporic identity.
The installation reconstructs memories from their childhood in Cameroon, drawing inspiration from rituals where masks serve as vessels for spirits. In this three-channel video installation, visitors can approach and interact with three digital masks, allowing each person to experience the story from their own perspective. Objects and spaces appear, dissolve, and transform, reflecting the fragile and fragmented nature of memory. Home 404 explores the hybrid nature of identity within the diaspora while offering a healing response to loss and displacement. The work shows how technology and memory can intertwine to create new forms of spiritual and cultural connection.
