hawk(s) taking off

In hawk(s) taking off, Chloe Abidi examines how digital imaging systems distort our experience of nature and landscape.

She uses an image sourced from Google Street View, where a hawk appears mid-flight but, due to the platform’s method of stitching photographs, seems to exist in multiple positions at once. This unnatural portrayal reveals how digital technologies, while promising a complete documentation of reality, actually produce new forms of distortion and fragmentation. Abidi’s work exposes how human attempts to control and capture the natural world through digital means inevitably result in fractured and incomplete representations.
