Graduation Show: Academie Minerva
brings art, cultural collaboration, and technological innovation to Groningen
From June 14 to 19, Academie Minerva will once again collaborate with cultural organizations in downtown Groningen for its annual Graduation Show — with the notable addition of the former Niemeyer tobacco factory as a new location.
More than 160 graduating artists, designers, performers, and art educators will present their work to a wide audience of art enthusiasts and professionals. The master's students of the Frank Mohr Institute will also share the outcomes of their two-year artistic research projects.
Collaboration with cultural organizations
As in previous years, Academie Minerva partners with various cultural institutions. With its main locations at Zuiderdiep and Praediniussingel, and additional venues at Kunstpunt Groningen, Noorderlicht, Niemeyer, NP3 | RE:Search:Gallery, Sign, and Pictura, the show becomes a vibrant meeting point for the art and culture sector, spotlighting emerging talent across multiple disciplines.
Art & Technology at the Niemeyer Factory
A striking new addition this year is the collaboration with the former Niemeyer tobacco factory. MWPO and Campus Groningen are developing the site into a dynamic community space focused on digital transformation. In the coming years, the location will host creative workspaces, businesses, leisure facilities, hospitality, and a public cultural function.
Academie Minerva and Niemeyer are joining forces around the theme of Art & Technology. In a world increasingly shaped by technological advancements and social change, students are challenged to experiment with (new and unfamiliar) technologies. They create critical and innovative work where art, design, and technology intersect. A selection of these works will be exhibited in a section of the factory, reflecting the Art & Technology theme. In addition, a networking event will bring together professionals from the fields of art & culture, education, creative industries, and ICT.
