J.W. Fike's Photographic Survey of the Wild Edible Botanicals of the North American Continent (Noord-Amerika, 2007-doorlopend)
Plants that are partially or completely edible grow all around us – in gardens, alleys, on dikes and fallow land.
This fact is crucial in the pursuit of a more sustainable lifestyle, but is unknown to most people. That’s why Jimmy Fike digs out plants all over North America and shoots them in the studio. In the digital processing, he colors the edible parts and delineates the rest of the plant as a photogram, in which an object is placed directly on light-sensitive material without the intervention of a camera. Fike hopes with his photos to inform people as well as to give them the insight that it is not that difficult to find more connection with nature.
