Hot Springs in Tuscany (Italië, 2007-2009)

Although three quarters of the Earth's surface is covered by water, only six percent of the world's water resources are freshwater. The world's population already uses 54 percent of all water resources and in 25 years this will have increased to 90 percent. A future shortage of drinking water is a real threat. The series Hot Springs in Tuscany is part of the Water project, with which Dvorakova & Fischer draw attention to this problem.

The area around Monte Amiata, an extinct volcano in southern Tuscany, is rich in natural hot springs. There are spas around the volcano where tourists have indulged in the beneficial effects of the sulphurous water for centuries. But the presence of water is taken for granted, say Dvorakova & Fischer.
