1m³ - Acker (Duitsland, 2009)
For his 1m³ project, Christian Diehl always delimits one cubic meter of a specific type of soil. He then dissects and isolates the various components of the soil – plants, animals, rocks.
In the clinical environment of the studio, he photographs these components in a businesslike manner. In addition to a cubic meter of mudflats and forest land, Diehl also recorded the arable land of the German village of Schöppingen, located in the western part of Münsterland, in this way. No less than ninety percent of the territory of this municipality consists of arable land.
