Nicolette Bartelink new chair of the board Noorderlicht

4 Dec 2021

Nicolette Bartelink (1961) will start on January 1, 2022 as chair of the board of Noorderlicht. She succeeds Arie Wink, who was chair since 2010. In that position he has been of great importance to the organization. Director Kees van der Meiden: “Arie is a seasoned director, hard on the content, soft on the person and a passionate lover and connoisseur of the art and culture in our country. It will take some time getting used to working without him. Fortunately, we have found a excellent successor in Nicolette.”

After studying art history at the University of Groningen, Nicolette Bartelink started her career as a visual arts project assistant at the Groninger Museum. As Head of Presentation she contributed to the realization of the new museum. In 1995 she started as Project Manager Brand & Product Presentation at Philips Design in Eindhoven. Bartelink supplemented her marketing skills with NIMA courses and the RuG’s postgraduate course in Brand Management. In 2003 she became Head of Exhibitions at Museum Catharijneconvent in Utrecht. Here she made the reopening exhibition ‘The God of the Netherlands, contemporary photography’.

From 2010 to 2016, Bartelink was director of Museum Jan Cunen and the City Archives of Oss, where she organized a number of monographic exhibitions by photographers such as Scheltens & Abbenes and Henk Wildschut and, in collaboration with the artist Ottmar Hörl, the project ‘Ossenkoppen’ on facades in the city. As interim director she contributed to a repositioning of Museum Vlaardingen and as quartermaster to the new historical Museum aan de A in Groningen. Nicolette Bartelink previously served on the Supervisory Board of cultural department store Schunck and has various advisory positions in the cultural field.

Nicolette Bartelink: “I am happy to make my expertise and experience available as chair of the board of Noorderlicht. Photography is one of the areas of the visual arts that I have developed a great fascination for during my career. It will be very interesting to contribute to the Noorderlicht programming as a sparring partner.”
