About Sarah Carlier
The work of Sarah Carlier (1981) comprises photography, video, installations and publications, characterised by both personal and socially engaged photography and video projects. Through documentary and fictional elements, she rewrites memories and stories. Carlier combines everyday realistic and recognisable situations with fantasised, sometimes unexpected, absurdist elements, all brought in to understand human existence, behavior, the complexity of life andour modern society.
Sarah Carlier studied Photography at the Royal Academy for the Visual Arts in The Hague (2000-2004) and obtained a master’s degree in Photography at the AKV/St. Joost in Breda (2004-2006). Her work has previously been shown at Stroom Den Haag, IMPAKT Film Festival Utrecht, Kunstvereniging Diepenheim, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, FOMU Antwerp, BredaPhoto and LhGWR.
