Brian Griffin

About Brian Griffin
Griffin (1948) was born in Birmingham, but grew up in Lye in the Black Country, an area that in those years lived off coal mining. Griffin left when he was 20 and went to study photography at Manchester Polytechnic. According to his own words, there he only learns “how to lose my virginity and smoke”. In 1972, as a relative outsider, he set up a studio on the banks of the Thames in the London Borough of Rotherhithe. He will work for business magazine ‘Management Today’ and learn the tricks of the trade. When the economy shrinks in the late 1970s and there is less work, he reports to the offices of the legendary Stiff Records with his portfolio.
