In Mimic, Katja Stuke sets a flow of 2,637 individual images in motion, taken with digital cameras or found online.

She then printed these images with a digital printer and re-photographed them. In this way, she created a stop-motion film almost by hand, later editing it digitally. The video plays on a TV monitor still inside its black packaging, lying flat on the ground. This gives the screen the look of an old, mysterious machine. In the film, the boundaries between real and fake begin to blur, creating a layered world where digital technology seems to grow naturally. The hypnotic sounds by Ponsdkater deepen the sense of this strange, almost living environment.
