Decisive Mirror
In Decisive Mirror, Sebastian Schmieg uses a smart camera and a neural network—a type of artificial intelligence that detects patterns—to analyze visitors based on unusual traits such as 'liveliness' or 'imagination.'

A LED display shows live percentages that supposedly indicate how 'alive' you are at that moment. The installation raises critical questions about the meaning and reliability of algorithmic analyses. How objective can a system be that measures such vague human qualities? And what does it say about how technology increasingly judges people? Decisive Mirror exposes how often and quickly we are assessed by machines, prompting visitors to reflect: how much percent alive are you today?
