The Backpack of Wings: Modern Mythology
In The Backpack of Wings: Modern Mythology, Hyeseon Jeong & Seongmin Yuk imagine a future where animals, like migratory birds, wear GPS backpacks to help predict natural disasters.

The story follows two biologists and two blackbirds—Loki and Sigyn—who each respond differently to an upcoming earthquake. The film is based on real tracking technologies like telemetry, which uses sensors to study animal movement and behavior. This data becomes part of a fictional “Internet of Animals”—a digital network where animals and humans are connected. The artists mix science with myths from East Asia to build a future where we can learn from animals, but also must think about control and responsibility. Hyeseon Jeong & Seongmin Yuk show us how digital tools can shape our view of nature—in ways that are both hopeful and troubling.
