generative by nature
In generative by nature, misha de ridder shows how spring slowly unfolds.

He photographed 36 quiet moments where nature wakes up: buds opening, light shining through leaves, grass growing. Instead of changing or styling nature, he just looked and captured what was really there. He says: “nature creates the image itself.” This is a reaction to digital art made by computers—called ‘generative art, ’ in which the computer follows an algorithm to create images. But de ridder shows that nature also has a ‘generative’ power: it changes all by itself, always in new ways. The photos were shown on a website exactly one year after they were taken—one per day, like a calendar. The project invites us to look more closely at the real world, to step away from screens, and to enjoy the magic of what is already here.
