A stunning selection of imagery set amongst rural and urban landscapes in and around the city of Groningen, in the north of the Netherlands. The imagery ranges from the interior of city-parking lots to night visions of ghostly terrain, from close-ups of sea spillage to fermenting cloud formations on the horizon. This exhibition is a selection from three Noorderlicht commissions granted between 2001 and 2005. Promised Land concerns the undercurrent of city-life in Groningen, Hidden Sites divulges the last traces of centuries-old 'borgen' (a farm-castle or a fortified manor house) and churchyards in the area surrounding the city, while Island is a composite picture of life, light and landscape on Schiermonnikoog, the smallest inhabited Dutch Wadden Sea island on the Groningen-coast.
