Arjen Mulder, biologist and essayist, will describe the effects of photography on the viewer from his particular standpoint, with an accent on the current digitisation process.
The essays by Arjen Mulder approach art from a non-traditional angle: they apply the human power of perception to the analysis of works of art. What makes the experience of a photograph different from that of a film or a painting? What effect has the photographic image on the viewer, and how does that work? Mulder explains how it is commonly accepted that photography can picture reality, and how effects both the medium and the viewer. He focusses his lecture on the relatively new digital photography.
